Smooth, stylish and a delight to listen to
Pam Asberry has been gaining momentum in the solo piano genre for some time now, and on this brand new single she adds the talents of Lynnette Kenith on flute, to what has to be one of the most charming singles of the year called The Mermaid’s Tears.
Originally from her hit album Seashells in my Pocket as a solo piece, Asberry has pulled out all these stops and thus produced one of the most compelling pieces I have heard for ages.
The flute of Kenith adds such a colourful texture to an already wonderful composition, one with a little Celtic lilt too, and manifests and extremely beautiful vista of tone, a veritable tableau of musical splendour. Asberry’s performance here is sublime and packed with a fluent confidence that leads me to believe that this is going to be a huge hit on the charts.
Smooth, stylish and an absolute pleasure to listen to, The Mermaid’s Tears opens the year ahead for the artist, a year I sense could be one of the biggest ever for Pam Asberry.
