Album Notes
PAMELA HOWLAND is a gifted American pianist and Steinway Artist who breathes life and vitality into classical music for audiences of any age or background. Vivacious, imaginative, sensitive and just a trifle unconventional (as demonstrated by her latest release, PAMELA HOWLAND Meets The Beatles), she is that rare classically trained performing artist who thrives as an entertainer. Her passion for promoting classical music has led her to develop a unique style of performance which allows her audiences to go away educated and entertained, feeling they have learned something about themselves as well as the music. (Pamela Howland…on a fascinating musical journey – Fred Child, host of “Performance Today” on American Public Media).

Although primarily a classical performer, Pamela Howland grew up with all kinds of music, owing to the fact that her mother was an amateur swing-band pianist in the 1940s. She fell in love with the Beatles in 8th grade, and developed a close Beatle-mania friendship with Kitt Reuter-Foss, the internationally acclaimed American Mezzo-Soprano, to whom this CD is dedicated.

PAMELA HOWLAND Meets the Beatles was also heavily inspired by her chance encounter with Paul McCartney in Warsaw, Poland. In June 2013, she performed while being pulled through the streets of Warsaw on a "potato cart." While she was stopped outside of the Church of the Holy Cross (where Chopin's heart resides) playing his famous "Raindrop" Prelude, Paul McCartney (who was there for his first performance ever, in Poland) drove by and gave her a thumbs up. This CD is the product of that encounter. The arrangements are inspired by Chopin's beautiful, poetic and lyrical approach to the grand piano.
