Album Notes
Parc X trio, winners of the 2010 TD Grand Prize for Jazz at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal, celebrate their fifth anniversary this year. For this special occasion Alain Bourgeois (drums) joins founding members Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier (piano and compositions) and Alex Lefaivre (bass and compositions) for their new project. This large-scale project encompasses two full length albums as well as two short EPs to be released in the next year. These recordings will present Parc X trio in their usual acoustic format as well as in an electric version bordering on prog and indie rock. In their constant quest for innovation and with the help of sound engineer Tim Gowdy (Parc X trio, Coral Egan, Odyssey Works), the band recorded everything in one room without edits at Pierre Marchand's studio in Montreal. This particular recording context allowed them to capture the raw power of their new compositions and sounds creating an experience closer to the high energy of Parc X trio's live sets than anything they have recorded in the past. Parc X trio have found their own unique voice in the contemporary jazz world with a sound heavily influenced by rock, urban beats and pop style melodies.

The first release of this series (Parc X trio, MCM004) showcases the trio’s newfound love for electric rock textures. Distorted keyboards, sub bass frequencies and rock and roll drums are at the heart of this new venture. It will officially be launched at Sala Rossa in Montreal on December 5th 2012.
