Album Notes
Park Slope is a small neighborhood in Brooklyn, rich in history yet diverse and ever changing. We hope our music is a reflection of our context. This collection of hymns is a testimony to the rich tradition of sacred music that has been recorded in the English language. Yet, like the 19th century rowhouses that line our streets, they are part of the life of our church-our voices inhabit them every week.

The music on this cd is performed by those who regularly accompany our congregation in worship. All proceeds go to support ministries promoting peace and justice in Brooklyn.

The music is beautiful, inspiring, holy. THe physical condition of the CD is defective. It doesn't even work in one of my CD players, at all. I also overpaid when buying through CD baby. I would, however, buy more CDs made by these artists.

Touching vocals, suberb composite
Christians from any location and denomination will appreciate the music collected on this CD. I hope that those of us who have the pleasure of listening to these musicians weekly at church will not be the only ones to snap up this composition; these hymnal renditions deserve to be played in homes and Churches across the country.

Park Slope, Brooklyn is one of the best collections of 19th century brownstones and architectural gems in the city. Yet within this rich traditional context lives a very creative, dynamic community. This CD really reflects that context. The traditional hymns give the set structure, but each song is taken in fresh, creative new directions. Every track here is excellent. My favorite is Encompass, actually a newer song. Come Thou Long Expected, How Deep the Father's Love, Laden WIth Guilt, and On Jordan's Stormy Banks all are absolutely amazing. Kelly Jones' vocals are haunting, the musicians are tremendous, and the production values are very high. The cover art is sharp, though I find it difficult to read the spine print.

This is essentially Indelible Grace (RUF) style music, with a flavor unique to New York. For other very strong efforts like this, tuned to their individual contexts, try Grace Seattle Experimental Orchestra (orchestral), Red Mountain Church (folk), or Redeemer Presbyterian Church of New Orleans (jazz-blues) disks, also available on CDBaby. Park Slope's, however, is my overall favorite of the bunch.

I absolutely LOVE this cd! The music is fabulous, voices compelling, and the words so rock solid doctrinally that they set my faith soaring and give me no choice but to respond in worship to our beloved Savior. Thank you!
