Album Notes
"We must be arrows - fly, fly fly.
Fly to my heart's desire. Fly to the thing I love."

"We Must Be Arrows” takes us straight to the heart of desire and creation. Like arrows, we use the things of our world and our life experience to launch ourselves to that which we most long to realize.

In her third album, Patrice travels the boundary-land of her language and her instrument, allowing poetry and melody to confound genre and style. Lush settings of compelling lyrics draw the listener into dreamscapes of memory, mysticism, wonder and woundedness.

Joined by a talented cadre of musicians including David Morris (cello and viola da gamba), Tony Marcus (guitar), harpers Maureen Brennan and Diana Rowan, and Rick Elmore (tuba), Patrice has also assembled two choirs for a four-part hymn to the angel of music and the startlingly original title song.

“You held me, and the whole room, spellbound in the palm of your hand. It has stayed with me ever since....”

This album also includes the long-time silly favorite “Tea Time” a paean to tea! At last!

Patrice would like to honour the creative skill of Woody Blackburn who made the glorious green obsidian arrowhead, which adorns the album cover.

Patrice has done it again-, created a thoroughly original and varied constellation of gorgeous music. Her deep, rich, resonant voice continues to surprise me. She's poetic, poignant, lilting, playful, always heartfelt, and wonderfully comforting.
