Album Notes
Patricia Daly

“An accomplished Harper and a lady with an elegant voice”
… Keltika Mag

Armagh born Senior All Ireland Champion and International Award Winner on numerous occasions Patricia Daly holds a Masters Degree in Irish traditional Harp Performance and is recognised as a highly accomplished performer, composer, songwriter, teacher and researcher within the Irish traditional music circuit today. She touches everyone’s soul in performance as she renders a mystical and enchanting interpretation of those ancient spell binding Celtic airs while her bright sparkling lightness shines through in the more up-beat tunes radiating a magnificent tonal quality from her harp. In this she, not only uplifts and inspires her audiences but, also delivers a special healing quality, which she naturally channells, through her music.

“Celestial energy…music of the angels”
… Krishna Ravi

With a free-spirited style of playing and a touch of glamour to her image this lady’s presence resonates a natural charisma when she walks into any performance situation. She oozes empathy in her persona.

“Allowing her musical vision to find voice – she is digging the ground for the rich vein of sound which her harp releases”
… Micheál Ó Súilleabhain IWMC

Her repertoire links to the music of the aged itinerant travelling harpers of the 16th and 17th centuries and she also touches on the livelier dance music of Ireland/Scotland/England/Wales/Breton and further a field. Her most recent project this year project was a funding raising event in Newry Town Hall for the Southern Area Hospice where Patricia and her harpers open the show with her newly composed piece of work “The Dance of Life”. Daly has conducted numerous workshops and joined fellow musicians in live performances at festivals both at home and abroad during the past number of years, some of which include Summer-song Festival Warrenpoint, The Francis McPeake International Summer School Belfast and The Piping live festival Glasgow. Daly’s three previous albums have sold extremely well at her live gigs especially the last album The Rolling Wave.

“The harp tracks are most effective and enjoyable on ‘The Rolling Wave’ her adroitness shines for instance on Lady Dillon”
… Geoff Wallis

She is also a regular name tiptoeing through different programmes on both radio and television where she portrays a vibrant enthusiasm for the Irish-harp music and its history. Some of her recent appearances included ‘Geantrai’ - TG4, ‘Musical Traditions’ - BBC 2 and Aine Hensey’s live radiobroadcast RTE.

Quote from the Irish Music Magazine.

"Patricia has done much over the years to enhance the status of the harp through her own playing and teaching the instrument. Harping has always been strong in the North and it's good to see the tradition being carried on through the work of the Armagh Harpers Association"

Quote from Irish News

"The harp is truly alive and booming in the Armagh area due to the tremendous work and determination of Patricia Daly"

Quote from Sounding Strings Harp Magazine.

"Patricia Daly is an All Ireland Champion harper who has produced a strong first CD of Irish songs and instrumental pieces. She is a very traditional performer and is accompanied on some tracks of Harping Daly by her brother Martin on Uilleann pipes or whistles. A nicely varied programme combining slow airs, songs and dance music."

Quote from German Student.

"...Patricia your book is fantastic. It has rabbits ears at this stage!I must be doing something right...Great eh?"
