Like Family

by Patrick Ames

The newest EP from songwriter Patrick Ames, dedicated to his mother, features the artist on a MIDI guitar synthesizer with Chana & Mikaela Matthews on backup vocals. The music is ruckus, joyous, and somehow always flattering.

Album Notes
“Like Family” is inspired by family, love, and the passing of time, and it includes new classics such as "Robert Mondavi," and the title track: "Like Family." Sound Engineer Mike Schoonmaker matches Ames' percussive guitar with some amazing sound engineering. Hits like "I Know What It's Like" and "Push the Door Open" have all the power and grace of classic rock, but they are new and timely, like track #3, "March On."

The singer/songwriter is writing and performing the best music of his lifetime. His day gig as a book editor and publisher only bolsters the simple authenticity of his lyrics.

Like Family (EP) = 5 Tracks:

1. “I Know What It's Like” — Lead track carries the big beat and graces you with lyrics: "You can / Always share / Your darkest times with me."

2. “Like Family” — Childhood memories interpreted by a lounge-like sound for Ames and the backups to float on.

3. “March On” — Quirky, off-beat, indie homage to protests and their marchers. How courageous we must be to 'take to the streets'.

4. “Push the Door Open” — There is a door between humanity and divinity. Multiple guitars, soaring vocals, driving beat.

5. “Robert Mondavi” — The calming, healing power of vocals built upon a classic story-line. Maybe the start of new category: "Wine Country Music"
