Album Notes
Greetings! I'm excited to present my first solo album, SANCTUARY. This represents a music making process that spanned over 2 years, involved more than 25 musicians, and is, by far, the most ambitious project I've ever embarked upon. "Sanctuary" is a 10 song album of instrumental compositions. Stylistically, the closest category that it falls under is "world music - new age". The spark came from an amazing South American band that I became involved with in 2010. After falling in love the Andean music and instruments they played, I set out to write some original tunes that would blend with their traditional South American repertoire. From there, I ventured beyond into influences from other parts of the world, like Brazil, the Caribbean, Eastern Europe, and even the Middle East. On one hand, I have a deep appreciation for groove and feel, which is clearly represented on Sanctuary (of course - I'm a drummer). However, there is a prevailing tapestry of lush harmonies and soaring melodies, giving almost every song an almost cinematic quality. I composed, arranged, produced, and even mixed everything on the album, but it would not have been successful if not for all the fine musicians who brought life to this music. Enjoy!!
