Album Notes
Patrick Henry began performing at the age of seven when he sang his favorite hymn, “One More River to Cross”, in a little church in the town of Sunset, LA. Beginning his professional career in 1978, he joined the Liberation Band. Henry got his nickname, Mr. Excitement, for his unique vocal styles and high-energy performance. The 90s brought many amazing things for Patrick and the Liberation Band. They had numerous hits such as “Lady of My Dreams” and “Don’t Put Me Out.” In 1995, “Come and Get It” peaked at #17 on the Top 50 Blues Chart.
Henry, an incredibly versatile artist, has performed with such acts as The Emotions, Johnny Taylor, Bobby Blue Bland, Kool & The Gang and the Pointer Sisters as well as a host of Zydeco bands. He has been recognized by the community through various awards. In 1996 he received the Martin Luther King Black Heritage Award.
