Album Notes
The Ethereal Plane makes music that is an exploration through rock, jazz-fusion, funk, trance and improvisation. With a collective drive to unify the band and audience through the hypnotic energy of music and transcendental dance therapy, The Ethereal Plane has been bringing its unique sound to venues across Colorado and beyond.

EP first hit stages in 2002 around Boulder CO. The lineup featured on this album is Patrick Latella, Christian Teele, Bill McKay, Christian Mockett, Brian Adams & Pete Wall. This tight and experienced unit brings together a diverse musical background to create a unique blend of sonic power that elevates the mind and fills the dance floor.

The Ethereal Plane is...

Guitarist/vocalist/songwriter/composer Patrick Latella has been writing and performing in Colorado and nationally since 1993 and has shared stages with Railroad Earth, Particle, Leftover Salmon, YMSB, Joan Osbourne, MOE., Tea Leaf Green, Perpetual Groove, The Motet, Kan'Nal and many others. The primary force behind the The Ethereal Plane, he combines melodic themes and funky rhythms with surreal visions and liquid atmospheres. As a current member of Whitewater Ramble, Patrick has been touring the country and focusing on expanding the boundaries of bluegrass, Americana and fusion. 3 songs written by Latella appear on the Whitewater Ramble album, "Roots & Groove", released in April 2013. In 1998 Latella released "Live in '98 - Symphonic Fusion" by his previous band, Butterhead...also available on iTunes, search "Butterhead".

Bassist Brian Adams tours and records with Great American Taxi, Dead Phish Orchestra, Todd Snider and many others. Thick bass, rumbling grooves, mean and tasty.

Christian Teele rocks out on drums and percussion, providing the Plane with unstoppable rhythm. Christian is one of the Front Range's most sought after drummers and can be heard nationally on the E-Town radio show every week as part of the E-Tone band. His pocket is deep and nasty.

Bill McKay brings his mastery of the keyboards to add a powerful melodic depth to the music as well as his soulful singing. Whether ripping around on piano or slamming home some B-3, Bill's playing is a force that has powered his own bands as well as others from Leftover Salmon to Derek Trucks.

Christian Mockett, aside from his work with The Ethereal Plane, has fired up Charlie Sounds, Boubacar Diebate & Dialy Kounda, Bongo Love, Salem, and of course Bill's Electric Bacon Box.

Pete Wall is a blistering saxophonist who has been a member of the Motet, Particle and is currently a member of Game 7. Pete also fronts his own band, Textiles. As one of the premier soloists in the funk/jam scene Pete's playing holds the bar at the highest level.

Other players who have flown the Plane include Edwin Hurwitz, Dave Watts, Jamie Janover, Nicholas David, Doug Scarborough, Paul Murin, Jeff Fournier and a multitude of Colorado's most adventurous musicians.

This album was recorded live at The Southern Sun in Boulder CO on Feb. 23, 2009.
Live multitrack recorded by Edwin Hurwitz for Café Montalban Recorders.

"Guitarist Patrick Latella has been responsible for some of the
more epic, original, improvisational-based bands in the Boulder
area for over ten years. The musical vision of (this) veteran
Front Range musician has taken local fans on psychedelic rock
trips, symphonic dance fusion journeys and blistering acoustic
excursions...." ~ Jeffrey Smith, Marquee Magazine (Boulder, CO)

"phenomenal musicians, they could probably play any type of music in order to fit into any venue, but their signature sound is an almost straight ahead, intricate and tight rock tune that drifts off into outer space for a hypnotic and mind-boggling jam in the middle. Looping lines and textures, the band creates an incredible mesh of rhythmic patterns, funky grooves, melodic harmonies, and controlled chaos...a few of the hottest musicians from one of the hottest music scenes in the country..." ~Mark Steele, The Telluride Watch

" that sound as if they are coming to you over the speakers of the mothership." ~ Autumn Phillips, Steamboat Pilot

"...a psychedelic dreamscape of jazz and jam, smart compositions and airy vibrations. What make the (music) work is the solid groove backbone that provides the necessary visceral component that fills both the dance floor and your head."
~Vince Darcangelo, Boulder Weekly (CO)
