ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This album came together very quickly. I’d been on an inspired writing binge for a couple of years, and kept thinking about how much I wanted to record my songs again. Here’s how it came about. A friend started a non-profit that is dedicated to helping people in need through food called Nom Prophets, and announced plans for a food and arts festival – NomFest. An idea flashed in my head…write a song for it (When You Give) record it, and donate the profits. Thankfully, my longtime friend Jim Spause suggested that we get together with Jim Bethke of SNCE Studios in Bensalem, PA and get to work. The Jims, as I call them, and I have played and recorded together in the past, along with my former music partner Scooter Hanes (see my other album - Follow The Example). Well, if you’re going to the studio to record one song, you may as well record six more while you’re at it! So with the NomFest deadline just a few weeks away, and all of us with very busy schedules, we got together for a handful of sessions, had a hell of a lot of fun, and made a damn fine record that I am extremely proud of. I was also extraordinarily fortunate that the multi-talented Bud Burroughs could join us to play keyboards and mandolin. Bud laid down all of his tracks in less than four hours! My son Xander also played on this record. Interestingly, he and I had never really played together prior to that day in the studio, and he did a great job sitting in with us on electric guitar during our first session. Jim Bethke not only expertly engineered the album, but also did some fantastic drumming that kept us all together. Finally, this album would not be what it is without the trusted musicianship and ears of Jim Spause. His influence is heard and felt on every song.

The first seven songs are the results of our sessions, and the last four are demo recordings that I had done at home. Feel free to send comments or questions to me at daddyman1@comcast.net.
