Paul Pedana’s music is a powerful almost melancholic expression of existence which fuses various sounds and crosses various genres to create a hybrid of alternative rock which the artist likes to call Existential rock. A brave soulful journey into the depths of what it means to live and love in a disjointed society.

Biography

Paolo Pedana better known as Paul Pedana was born on March 25, 1987 in a small town called Umbertide, in the vicinities of Perugia, Italy, At the tender age of 6 he began to play the piano. By the age of twelve he had picked up the guitar and the drums and had started his first band. Paul’s initial interest in music was effused in him by his father at a young age thanks to an enormous record collection comprising everything from 60’s rock to contemporary music.
At 14 he had already composed an 11 track album of symphonic music created on various synthesizers and other virtual instruments. The album was presented to the great composer Giampiero Reverberi after a live performance he was giving in the area. The composer was immensely impressed by young Paul’s musical prowess and potential.
Pauls momentum was abruptly cut short by a tragic accident. On 4th June 2003 at age 16 Paul was run-over by a bus in front of the high school. Both wheels passed over his body crushing everything under its immense weight. There seemed to be little hope for the young musician who was considered by most medics to be beyond return. Despite the odds he made a painful and miraculous recovery, underwent multiple surgeries and medical treatments and went down in italian medical journals dew to the quantity and complexity of the operations.
Paul describes this experience as the most nightmarish and harrowing experiences of his life to date and admits that the whole ordeal left more than just physical scars and had a strong influence on his life for years to come. It did not however brake his spirit and passion for music so as he lay on his hospital bed he ordered his first electronic drum set and began to practice obsessively with headphones on until he was released.
Back in High School, Pedana teamed up with Singer and Keyboardist Michele Palafreni , Guitarist Alessandro Bravi and bassist Sammy Tabet to form a band, which they called Anthropos. Pedana was the Drummer and the main songwriter. They soon added Luca Cozzari as a Rhythm Guitar and called in Luca Bianchi to take the place of the previous guitarist.

Anthropos:

After high school, the group recorded their first album “Strangers of The Nowhere” which got its name from a chance encounter Paul had with director Terry Gilliam. Some months later, Paul and Terry met again at the Umbria Film Festival. Pedana and Michele Palafreni delivered the dedicated song to Terry who was very touched and enthusiastic.
At the end of 2010, the band released Live In Ossuary, which included three songs that were later included on the band's 2011 singles album, Strangers of the Nowhere.
"Out Of Time" became Anthropos's first hit. In 2013 Anthropos's EP, I’m Gonna Smash You Down, was released to critical acclaim and commercial success especially in Belarus where they were immediately offered a place at Most festival alongside bands such as Kasabian. They still go on tour often in Belarus and find it one of the warmest receivers of their music. Other Projects: In the fall of 2005, Pedana formed Overshade, a progressive symphonic metal band. For 5 year, the group wrote and produced two albums without performing.
