ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Singer-songwriter Paul Thompson, from Norfolk, England, is gaining a reputation as one of the true eccentrics of the British singer-songwriter scene. His ‘Floating to the Fringe Tour’ saw him embarking on a Guinness World Record breaking three-month musical odyssey to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in an electric milk float!

Paul travelled more than 1,000 miles at 10mph in his specially converted milk float ‘Bluebell’, that utilises solar panels to power stage lighting and music gear. During the Arts Council England funded tour Paul gigged all the way from his Norfolk home to the Outer Hebrides, before completing a run of successful shows at the Edinburgh Fringe.

Two years later Paul did another tour in Bluebell, this time from Norfolk to Land’s End in Cornwall, raising money for Cancer Research. While waiting for Bluebell to be repaired on his way home Paul found out about a Master’s Degree in Songwriting at Bath Spa University, applied for it, and stayed put!

Thinking that a milk float might not be suitable to live in for the cold English winter, Paul bought a motorhome to live in for the year which was converted into a recording studio by Sound on Sound Magazine. Much of ‘One Again’ was written and recorded there, also utilising the fabulous talent and recording facilities at the university studios.

Paul eventually made it back to his Norfolk home a year and a half after setting off on his journey to Cornwall, this time with a Master’s Degree in Songwriting! He has just written a book about his travels by milk float which is being adapted into a film, and Paul continues to do performances with Bluebell, using the amazing musical milk float as a mobile stage and songwriting workshop space at outdoor events and festivals.
