ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Five years after discovering the power of the Blues, Paul jammed with and was hired on the spot by none other than JOHN LEE HOOKER himself.

He stayed with John's COAST TO COAST BLUES BAND, which included two of Chicago's finest and most in demand sidemen of the era, LUTHER TUCKER and GENO SKAGGS.

During Paul's tenure with the band, he recorded three albums with JOHN LEE; "Never Get Out Of These Blues Alive", "Born In Mississippi Raised In Tennessee" and the live offering, "Kabuki-Wuki".

Through his association with JOHN LEE, PAUL's guitar style matured quickly.

While building his road-tested steelbelted vocabulary of Blues licks, PAUL was also afforded rare and unique pleasure of meeting and jamming with the legends and near legends that populate the Blues Universe.

While JOHN LEE and MUDDY WATERS reminisced on the occasion of MUDDY's 54th birthday, PAUL was thrilled to experience the rare pleasure of playing slide guitar with MUDDY's early 70's road band which included MUDDY's legendary piano man, PINETOP PERKINS.

PAUL's grasp of and appreciation for the incredible intimate experience of soul to soul communication, possible through the Blues, was immeasurably heightened by meeting and playing music with such Blues luminaries as JIMMY REED, CHARLIE MUSSELWHITE, VAN MORRISON, ELVIN BISHOP, L.C.

Good Rockin'" ROBINSON, JOHNNY WINTERS and ROBERT CRAY.

PAUL's inimitable Blues and Rock interpretations, as well as his original compositions and arrangements were tapped by THE TUBES to open for The Band at gigs in San Francisco, Marin, Oakland and Santa Cruz.

PAUL's accoustical prowness was acknowledged when he opened for JAMES BROWN at the Circle Star Theatre in San Carlos, and, for the well known STEPHEN STILLS of "Crosby, Stills & Nash", in Santa Rosa.

PAUL was on tour in Europe, recording his second album, featured in "Guitar Player Magazine" as a participant in the JBL sponsored festival in Amsterdam, with the band, "Liquid Fire", and worked the club circuit in Hamburg, Germany.

Blues Master Paul Wood, is back in his hometown of Oakland, California kicking off the Blue Monday Sessions at Oakland's glamorous new Nightclub, The Uptown...(check his website for dates).

Great Blues CD
Great CD. Paul is a great blues guitarist and really brings a nice sound out on the CD. If you like hard driving blues guitar, you will like this CD. And yes, I heard it on the Sopranos.

Like others, I heard Blues Is My Business on the Sopranos, and I was in a frenzy to find it. I looked up the title on the net, and then went from store to store with no luck. Finally from this website I found it. I love the whole CD. Lots of great songs, and I am very happy with the CD and with CD Baby. Thank you!

All I needed was Paul Wood's "...Blues guitar."
Bought it for BLUES IS MY BUSINESS (c/o Sopranos)and love everything on the CD! Great guitar and as an ex-Santa Cruzian, I know you can't go wrong if you love the blues, screaming guitar and Nothern CA beaches! CD BABY will be my first choice to locate hard to find music from now on.

Great talent and style.
My son plays blues guitar and I bought this CD for him. I cheated and played it myself before giving it to him. Now I am going to buy the other Paul Wood albums.

Great Album! Great Guitar Work! Great Rocking Blues!
Like everybody else I was looking for Blues is My Business after hearing it on The Soprano's. I'm real glad I found this album of great guitar work and great rockin' blues, even though it's Etta James' version on the show. Paul's arsenal of guitar licks including Dobro slide work is impressive. Buy this album! You won't be sorry you did!

Rockin' blues at its BEST
I've heard so many good rockin' blues cds this year already I was totaly blown away when this cd arrived in the mail. It sounds great has great set of songs and is loaded with killer guitar work. I have Paul's first cd and it's good but I wasn't expecting this. Surrounded by Memphis's best studio musicians Paul let's rip on ten killer tunes with a production major label artist would kill for. If your a fan of great blues on the rockier side with plenty of great guitar soloing you should run out and buy this album Now!!!
