ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Paul Zim’s name and talent are well recognized. He has enthralled audiences the world over with his stirring voice. He is a third generation Cantor in his family. When he was five, he began singing as an alto soloist in his father’s choir. By the time he was thirteen, he was leading services in his synagogue in Portland, Maine. At the tender age of 21, Paul Zim succeeded his late teacher and mentor, the renowned Moshe Koussevitzky as Cantor of Beth El in Brooklyn, New York. Several years later, he was chosen to succeed the revered Richard Tucker as High Holiday Cantor at the Park Synagogue in Chicago, a position he held for ten years.

Paul Zim sings the soul music of the Jewish people with its roots in our East European ancestors. Whether he is singing a cantorial masterpiece, an old Yiddish favorite, a Chassidic classic, a modern Israeli tune or a popular children’s song, he inspires us with the music of our Jewish heritage. He also appeared in the role of "Cantor" in two feature films, "War and Love" and "A Stranger Among Us."

Paul resides in the New York area with his wife and family, and serves as Cantor of Congregation Gesher Shalom in Fort Lee, New Jersey.

To hear Paul Zim once, is to remember him always!
