Album Notes
\"Mellow-but-active guitar playing and just a hint of blues thrown in for good measure. The guitar work is never lazy, and when the single-string solos come in, you hardly notice they weren\'t there before. Tension and Release is a fluid, well-recorded disc... Artists like DeStefano tend to either sound completely derivative, or in this case, they sound like ... themselves. That\'s a feat in itself; there are an awful lot of Dave Matthews disciples these days. Much to his credit, DeStefano doesn\'t sound like he\'s imitating anyone.\" -

\"Philip DeStefano is a stand-out artist. When I first heard his music, I knew I had to feature him on my most recent episode… it absolutely precluded everything else I had on the playlist.\" - podcast ~ Rich Palmer(host), podcast #98.

\"This is an album full of acoustic songs that are gentle and jazz-influenced. There\'s a good deal of slow and tasteful guitar, and a number of well-written songs. - Good Times Magazine, Long Island, Nov \'04

\"jazz-inspired\" -

\"acoustic guitar-based songs... smooth, jazz guitar format\" -

This is one of two recordings I\'ve done. The other was as one half of the duo \"DeStefano & McLeod\" and was titled \'Coloring the Sky\' - it contains four very eclectic instrumental tracks and four vocal tunes. You\'ll find it on CDBABY if you search for my last name.

haunting texture
I have been listening to Tension and Release. Do I like it? Yes! It is music that I must listen again and again to capture the subtleties. There is a haunting texture and easiness in the playing.

Lush melodies....
A wonderful cd with lyrics that are both clever and moving, and melodies that are so lush they pull you in. This cd blends folk and jazz beautifully.
