Album Notes
Alan Pedersen has been performing for more than 25 years. An accomplished singer and award winning songwriter, he spent several years writing and recording music in Nashville, Tennessee. Alan has had several songs recorded by other artists.

In August of 2001 Alan’s life took a tragic turn, his 18-year-old and only daughter Ashley was killed in an automobile accident. This tragedy would take his life in a direction he never imagined. Struggling for months to find answers and trying to cope with tremendous pain and anger, Alan began attending monthly meetings of The Compassionate Friends, a support organization for families who have had a child die.

Alan credits The Compassionate Friends for saving his life and inspiring him to honor his Ashley's life by helping others. In 2003 Alan released a CD of songs he had written about his walk through the valley of grief, titled Ashley’s Songbook. In 2006 he released a follow up CD titled "A Little Farther Down The Road." Alan now helps others by sharing his story of faith and hope. His message is simple; grief and loss offer the opportunity for ordinary people to accomplish extraordinary things. He believes that healing begins when we once again give of ourselves by helping others.

Alan has been a featured speaker and performed his music at more than 900 events throughout the United States and Canada in the past 10 years for grief organizations, churches, and other civic events.

In December of 2013, Alan began serving as The Executive Director of The Compassionate Friends.

Ashley's Songbook
Thank you Alan, for writing these beautiful songs from your heart in memory of your precious daughter, Ashley. We at TCF Saskatoon in Canada are always looking for meaningful music for our Balloon release and our Candlelighting. These songs are absolutely amazing and so meaningful as they are coming from a bereaved parent.
Thank you for sharing such a loving talent.

The power of song
When I heard about Alan's music, I had to have it. I find comfort in music, and never more so since our 19 year old son passed away 10 months ago. I can so relate to what Alan has gone through. Thanks for believing in the power of song.

This music is very beautiful and has really touched me!
I really like your guitar and the very personal touch you have in your voice and singing. The music is excellent - very nice arranging, and you can tell this music is coming from your heart!

Touching and healing
I lost my daughter at the age of 15 - in a tragic car accident, the same as Alan lost his daughter. I cried the first time I listened to the CD even though it has been 11 years since losing Kellie. I would recommend the CD to anyone and everyone who has lost a loved one, esp. a child, no matter how many years it has been. Thank you for touching my heart.

This CD touched my heart so much. We lost our daughter in an accident in 2002 and we can relate to every song on here. I've never heard such meanful words put togeather with beautiful music. We love it. Thank You.

Ashley's Songbook
I lost my brother tragicaly, and my father to cancer. I never really dealt with it until I unexpectedly ended up at a concert and heard these songs. I never thought the tears would end. I felt so refreshed and renewed after listening to these songs over and over again.
This CD and Alan's new one are a must have.

reaching out to all
When I started listening to this music I was so touched by the lyrics and guitar. Alan's music is a bridge to so Dad has dementia which is a slow death everyday, and Alan's music touches me where I need it. Thanks for your ministry.

Ashley's Sonbook
Finally, someone who has been there and can write beautiful and comforting music. I lost my 18 year old daughter, Sara, to a drive by shooting/road rage murder in August in 1999. The murderer has not been found. A Long Hard Fall is perfect, cos if I can make it thru August, I can make it thru the fall and winter. Sara had gotten a butterfly tattoo when she turned 18. I discovered it about 2 weeks later and when I asked her about it, she just grinned. I swore I would never get one, but same as Alan, it seemed like the one thing I knew I had to do for Sara. Thank you for an awesome cd. I look forward to being able to get A Little Farther Down the Road. If the thoughts and emotions of Ashley's Songbook, are any indication, I know I will be equally moved and comforted. love and prayers for the coming days, Sara's Mom.

it made me cry good tears
I too lost my daughter. My angel. Alan touched my heart deeply with his words and he is helping me to heal. He is going to be in my area soon to perform and I will be there! I will ask for his autograph and buy more CDs too. What a blessing for him to share his talent with words and song - to share his heart to help others heal. Thanks, Alan!
