Album Notes
Ann Pence wrote these songs as a tribute to her friends and as an "auntie" to her friends' children from China. The songs begin with the baby, left in a box or a basket, at the gates of another life. The cycle ends when this adopted child has grown up and goes back to China, searching for the connection we all search for, whether adopted or not.

This record was made most happily at Surreal Studios in Anchorage, Alaska. Recorded and mixed by Kurt Riemann. Mastered at Airshow by David Glasser.

The beautiful CD cover design and booklet were made by husband and wife team Cardella Creative. You can see their top notch work at

Contributing musicians: David Goodrich, Radoslav Lorkovic, Dave Arrowsmith, Tom Bryan, Marge Ford, Mike Martinson, John Nyman, Pat Owens, Kurt Riemann, Stu Schulman, Kenny Snow, Dirk Westfall. And we can't forget the little singers: Leslie Meara Evangelista, Addison Monsen, Molly Pfleiger, and Julia Preston.

A portion of the proceeds from sales of this CD will go to Half the Sky Foundation. To read more about them, please visit

Such an awesome thing to find!!! A story just like our own only in a song. A must have addition to any out of country adoptive families CD collection. Our daughter listens constantly and knew all the words to the Gotcha Day song in a matter of 2 days I think! Wonderful!!

We LOVE this CD!
My children love the CD as much as my husband and I do. We got it last week and have listened to it a 100 times at least and I still get goose bumps!

Ann Pence captures our heart with Gotca Day
Recently, my wife and I downloaded Ann Pence's CD Gotca Day from iTunes. We are several months into our L.I.D. spending lots of time on the Internet seeking knowledge and resources for our Gotca Day. This CD is wonderful and truly captures our feelings and emotions. We both love the song Forgiven and can't wait to share Ann's Gotca Day CD with our baby girl.

Brought back wonderful memories of our adoption. I recommend this to EVERYONE who has gone through a Chinese adoption and anyone who knows someone who has!

Just in time for Adoption Awareness month in November.
Thank you for expressing so many of the feelings and experiences that go along with international adoption. Beautiful, moving and fun music, that my kids enjoy too.
Will use this week at school for Adoption Awareness.

Absolutely Fabulous!
Not only wonderful music, but also so completely connected to the Chinese adoption experience, we felt our emotions were being expressed. Songs are funny, clever and incredibly moving. Still have tears after listening many times. What a gift. We LOVE it!

Gottcha Day
I stumbled across the album somehow and decided that the title alone would be worth ordering, much as giving a gift of flowers to my 22 year old daughter adopted just 6 years ago from Kazakhstan. At the time, she was likely the oldest child adopted to the US from Kazakhstan . She came home from college to celebrate her 6th Gottcha Day last weekend. She cleared the US Embassy in Moscow 1 1/2 hours before closing the Friday before her Sunday 16th birthday. Monday would have been too late!!! You have to clear the embassy BEFORE your 16th birthday. She landed in American on her 16th birthday, welcomed by a large crowd and TV cameras. It was a Cinderilla story come true. She was very taken by the title of the album, that there could be such a album written and sung specifically for celebrating one's Gottcha Day. She also very much liked the songs, even though written for much younger children. I will be gettting one for our 14 year old who was away at a weekend camp and unaware of the gift to her older sister.
