I love old songs of many kinds and sang them obsessively for decades. They seem to have gotten all scrambled up together in my head and emerged as new ones!
I made this in a playful way at home in late 2007, exploring my computer's recording and overdubbing capabilities for the first time. Enough people have liked the result that I decided to make a public release long after the fact. Another one will be coming soon, which I hope will include some musician friends this time.
Some commentary from friends and fellow musicians:
"You are blowing me away here, darling....I can't get through the cd because I keep stopping and listening to some of the songs repeatedly!"
"You have really captured Advent in this song for me. That is why it is hard for me to listen to it. I feel the pain of it and of the bleeding earth and the hopeless hope of birth."
"Seems to flow all around me when I hear it, like beautiful waters."
"You have certainly translated some real pain into some fine music!"
"What I like best about your composition, singing and playing is that your music dares to be simply what it is. No weird fusion things, no harmonies out of place, just the roots music style you love with perhaps a touch of medieval and Celtic."
"A grand collection of songs and singing, with healthy doses of attitudes from angelic to acerbic, sometimes a tasty blend of the two!"
"Thank you for your clear spirit and sweet music. "
