ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Moleskine Weather is comprised of five songs written and recorded by Jason Ogden between March and June 2015.

Penny Blacks, from Saint John, New Brunswick, is not a "she", "he", and "it" or a "them." Penny Blacks is the canvas on which songwriter Jason Ogden splatters a spectrum of inks ranging from guitar-heavy roots to simple folk and indie pop. Since 2011, that ink has been mixing with the blood of Clinton Charlton, Chris Braydon, Ali Leonard and Adam Kierstead. The result is poison. The kind you get from too much reflection, too much solitude, too much alcohol. The red light of action shines yet, indeed, The black ink proves much harder to remove.

In September 2015, Penny Blacks released Moleskine Weather, a 5-song EP that slow-burns up the dying reds of summer and presages the chill of winter. It's a minimal, lo-fi reaction to 2013's upbeat Silver Screen EP who's stark lines are drawn purely in that black ink, beautifully calligraphed with soulful, ardent slopes and arches.
