ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Songstress Perlene Thurston delivers each performance with pleasure, insight and passion. Born in Detroit, Michigan and currently living in the San Fernando Valley in California, she is the daughter of local jazz pianist, the late Richard "Dick" Thurston.

Stylistically, Perlene has a versatile and extensive musical repertoire which includes jazz, standards, ballads, blues, R&B, rock, country/western, latin/calypso and gospel. She has sung and recorded solo, in duos, trios on up to big bands with ease.

John Setar, a legendary woodwind player of the "Swinging Years" and member of the Big Band Alumni, recently said to Perlene, "I've played with the great lady vocalists of our time, inlcuding Ella, and Sarah. You rank right up there."

Often described as "the best kept secret in L.A." and "the Purr-fect vocalist, she has performed at some of the finest venues in Southern California.

Her recently released CD entitled "It's About Love" features her warm, personal approach to some of her favorite jazz standards, love songs and ballads with a pinch of latin. She is accompanied by Karen Hernandez on keyboards and left hand bass, and Michael Rosen on drums.

Now just relax and get into the flow. Like another popular song says, "The Best Is Yet To Come".
