Album Notes

"It's almost what you would call traditional country in a sense, but in another sense it's quite filmic, textural and wide. It sort of disarms you in a way with simplicity and then before you know it, you're in a sweeping landscape with hints of Australian red dust and riders." William Bowden, King Willy Sound

Players on Wialki were, Joel Quartermain, Pete Byfield, Matt Giovannangelo, Lauren Arthur and Sean Lillico. Players for the other tracks were, Pete Byfield, Joel Quartermain, Lee Jones and Nigel Bird

Track notes
1. Hounds are Howling - A lament of the land, a situation not foreign to my family.
2. White Dove - When I’m in a plane I look down on the earth and
wonder what all the fuss is about. This is my peace
3. Truckin' Lucky - I’ve done my share of truck driving and a couple of
events involving a one lane bridge and an eagle came
to mind. Eagles have been known to come through
the windscreen, their take off burdened by a belly full
of roadkill. Swerving to miss them also comes with its
4. Ashes - My family have been threatened by and fought fires all
their lives. Some friends of ours lost their house in a
Parkerville fire in 2014.
5. Were Just Visitors - My take on the brevity of life as we visit it.
6. Wialki - Wialki is the area in which our family took up new land
farming in the 1960’s. These events are etched in my
7. It Always Rains After a Dry Spell - The title is a philosophical view point of a cocky facing
dry after dry. The saying can apply to life in general.
I think that things do turn around for the better if we
concentrate on what is important to us.
8. Why the Sky - The album didn’t feel complete without a love song.
