Amazing lyrics tell a story with a perfect mix of subtlety and music
This CD is an amazing collection of songs with a mix of wonderful tones and words throughout that come together to create a sound with perfect harmony.
The sound ( as amazing as it is) isn't all this CD has to offer, the lyrics, as well, are genius. They tell stories of the experiences of the artist, and many tidbits of life in general.
All in all, this album is one of the best of it's kind.

"Simply Beautiful"
This is an incredible CD, with flowing melodies and crisp vocals. You can tell that Pete is a writer as well as a musician because his lyrics are both unique and meaningful. Immediately after hearing the first track I knew that "Still Point.." would be in my CD player on repeat for a while. Each song is special on its own but the compilation as a whole is truly amazing. Track 1 intertwines delicate harmonies and clever lyrics to create a piece that looks back on youth and experimentation while "Baby Send Me an Aeroplane" is busy making your heart break with it's rich piano and heartfelt vocals. The diversity and the simplicity of the album as a whole make it absolutely perfect.

Mr. Laffin, you've got yourself one heck of an album.
You've written some potent lyrics and some wonderful melodies. Your voice sounds polished, yet you've done a great job of maintaining that honest quality of your vocal attack. I think I often struggle with finding that balance of polish and honesty in my vocal approach. You nail it.

Lyrically, I think everything's really tasteful, and I've certainly always loved your politically minded songs, but I think 'We Are Crazy' is really touching me right now:

"Although our lips have never touched, it's the deepest kiss I've ever given." - You're delivery of this line is chilling, man. There are several lines like that. New Paltz is going to miss ya. Hope to meet up before you leave.

This cd is just gorgeous. The production is amazing, the songs are amazing and Pete has such a beautiful voice.
Highly recommended!

Absolutely lovely.
The Still Point of the Turning World is an incredible cd. Pete is an unbelievably talented musician, and it comes across loud and clear through the lyrics, vocals, instrumentation, and production of these songs. It's been my driving soundtrack for the past several weeks. Very highly reccommended.
