I Forgot

by Pete McCabe

My music is eclectic in the sense that each song is created in its own style. There is a focus on lyrics, and the music can be complex. My folk roots can be heard in the finger picking guitar, but there can be weird chords and symphonic explorations...

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
My album "The Man Who Ate the Plant" was released by Tumbleweed Records in the 70s and has developed a small cult following. I grew up in Denver and absorbed folk influences at the Denver Folklore Center. A music theory class in high school as well as my time as a banjo player in a Dixieland band brought new vocal and instrumental insights into my songwriting. Not to mention the Beatles. I now live in Venice California with my wife, dog and cat.
My songs are quite narrative and, I hope, poetic when it comes to lyrics. Some think me downright strange, but most agree that my songs are one-of-a-kind.
"I Forgot," my fifth CD, was recorded at home. With the exception of two tracks, I did all the vocals and instruments. I really prefer recording to playing in public which, I suppose, has kept my audience small but dedicated. With this album and CD Baby release, I hope to reach new listeners. Some of the songs are newly recorded and arranged versions of my past writing and some were written quite recently. Take a listen and see what you think.
