ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
As a classroom teacher, I am always aware of the need for good support materials to help aid students, both at home and at school, in the remembering of key concepts. With that in mind I set out to create songs and videos that would provide content in a fun and informative way while staying true to the story of these historic characters and their impact on our nation. While trying to pack in as much information as possible, I also attempted to deliver them in an engaging story like way. Even though some of these songs, like First Five Presidents, were written for a younger audience, it has been surprising to see how many older students use them as well to recall historic details and as a stepping stone for further research, inquiry and discussion.
All of these songs were recorded with as much acoustic instrumentation as possible so that they would feel more like they suited the time periods addressed. That's why you will hear guitar (steel string, nylon string and the occasional electric), mandolin and Appalachian dulcimer alongside bass guitar and synthesizers to provide atmosphere.
So thanks to all those students and teachers who, over the past few years, have encouraged me to put these songs out there and I hope you enjoy and use them for many years to come!
