Album Notes
Called "star ascendant" by San Francisco's Classical Voice, and "stunningly virtuosic" by The New York Times, bassoonist Peter Kolkay demonstrated his artistry through a broad range of ever-evolving musical interests. Mr. Kolkay has appeared at diverse venues including Alice Tully Hall, Carnegie Hall, Symphony Space, Bargemusic, Barbés, the Chicago Cultural Center, and the Teatro Nacional in Panama City. He frequently performs at summer festivals, including Spoleto USA, Bravo! Vail Valley, Music from Angel Fire, and Bridgehampton.

Mr. Kolkay is an Artist of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center and the first bassoonist awarded an Avery Fisher Career Grant and First Prize in the Concert Artists Guild International Competition. He is on the faculty of the University of South Carolina and is a member of both the IRIS Orchestra and the South Carolina Philharmonic. Mr. Kolkay's teachers include Frank Morelli, John Hunt, Jean Barr, and Monte Perkins.

A native of Montréal, Alexandra Nguyen maintains a diverse career as a collaborative pianist, teacher, and arts adminitration. She is accomplished pianist who has appeared through the US and Canada, including performances as Weill Hal and the Societe Pro Musica Chamber Music Series in Montréal. Recent collaborative concerts include those with members of the Takács Quartet and baritone Patrick Mason. As Assistant Professor of Collaborative Piano at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Dr. Nguyen co-directs the graduate program in collaborative piano and coordinates accompanying services at the College of Music. She is founder and director of the summer institute "Plays Well With Others," held at the Eastman School of Music, and is on the faculty of The Quartet Program West.
