Mountains and motorcycles; pigs, pubs, and planets; insight, hope and humor--such are the ingredients one finds in the songs of Peter Mayer. Earthy and intimate, Mayer's songs invite the listener to consider the deeper aspects of life. The standard lyrical dish of love lost and found is not on his menu, rather, it consists of an eclectic blend of thoughtful songs about the collective human journey. His welcoming voice and inventive guitar work along with his honest delivery provide the perfect vehicle for his down-home wisdom.

"Million Year Mind," Peter's fourth CD, offers an eclectic blend of thoughtful songs about the collective human journey. Fans in the Upper Midwest learned about Peter through his previous CDs, "Uncrowded Sky," "Straw House Down," and "Bountiful," but it is with "Million Year Mind" that Peter's audience and critical acclaim has expanded across the country.

Peter's discography:
"Elements" (2001)
"Million Year Mind" (1999)
"Bountiful" (1997)
"Straw House Down" (1995)
"Uncrowded Sky" (1993)

Peter's accolades and awards include:
1999 McKnight Fellowship for Performing Musicians
1998 NACA Midwest Hall of Fame Award
1998 Lyons Folk Festival Songwriting Competition Finalist
1998 Telluride Troubadour Songwriting Competition Finalist

Landmark Work
When I first heard Holy Now live in 2003, it moved me so that I was ashamed that I had ever placed folk music on the shelf as being "moonshine music." Holy Now is covered by David Wilcox and should be covered by a lot of other artists. It is so moving and profound it will likely one day be public domain as many hymns have become. Charlie Porter and One More Circle are masterpieces as well. This CD is remarkable in musicianship and artistry and I'm proud and grateful that I was allowed to get to know this great artist. All the best always Pete, Jon Fortman, Fifth St. Coffeehouse, FUMC Fort Worth TX.
