Album Notes
After more than 4 years Peter Muller returns with a new album!

For the fans of the bass virtuoso it was worth the wait, because with „The Flow“ Muller makes clear, that his successful debut “M-Vibez“ (2003) wasn’t only a flash in the pan. On his brandnew release he creates new sounds with his Fender Jazz Bass, impresses with unconventional and soulful solos. His compositions stay in the ear, the arrangements have a great depth, you can discover new things everytime you’re listening.
Stylewise Muller puts together everything he digs, and takes his bass on a journey flowing from Funk to Jazz, R&B to Soul, flavoured with latin and even oriental elements.

Aboard are faboulous musicians: Frank Mead (sax, flute), Tim Cansfield (guitar), Tobias Neumann (keyboards), Christian Kappe (trumpet), Ulle Rode (guitar), Kristof Hinz (drums), and Tim Weller (drums).

German bassist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and producer Peter Muller looks back on more than 4 exciting years. In 2003 his debut album "M-Vibez" hit the jazz/funk/fusion market out of the blue, and put him on the scene as one of the most interesting new bass players. The unexpected success of "M- Vibez", which meanwile is a true "bass classic", opened new doors for Muller, as a musician but also as a producer and sound engineer. The consequence was that it took quiet a while before he could record his new album "The Flow".

Born on the 6th October 1969 Peter Muller grew up in a musical family. His father played acoustic bass and piano and so Peter came into contact with Jazz very early. He started to learn classical acoustic guitar at the age of nine, taking lessons for about five years. It was during this period that he became interested in funk music. His ears were totally drawn to the sound of the bass and he started to slap on his guitar, trying to sound like all the contemporary bass players he was hearing.
Peter grabbed at the chance when a friend of his father’s offered him an old Hoefner electric bass guitar and from then on concentrated solely on bass. He listened to just about everything he could, learning from players like Mark King, Stanley Clarke and Marcus Miller. Eventually he decided that he needed a bass more suited to the kind of music he was in to. So in 1983, at the age of 14, he bought the second hand Fender Jazz Bass (Serial No. S8852622) that is still his main instrument today. He became a professional musician in 1987 and like most professionals played all kinds of gigs in all kinds of musical situations all over Europe. Peter became a popular bass player, favoured for his heavy groove and his passion for funk. In the second half of the 90`s he discovered his composing skills and started to write is own music. He also felt that producing music could be an interesting new perspective for him. In 2000 he became member of the Frank Mead Band, which was an important step in his development as an artist.
In 2001 he put his own studio, “Wave Island”, together and it was only a few months later that he decided it was finally time to release his first album. He founded his own label "Mullennium Records" to have the complete freedom and control over his music. "M-Vibez", by Muller himself, and "Shout it out", the debut CD of sax player Frank Mead, have both been released in July 2003. In the following years Muller has been busy as a much sought-after bassist, as well as an audio egineer, mixing and mastering countless productions from other artists who wanted the punchy "Muller sound".
But the vision of a new album became stronger and stronger, so Muller started to back out from other activities and concentrated solely on his brandnew album "The Flow", which is finally out now!

Has it been 4 years already?
Amazing,it's been 4 years already and I'm still trying to figure out the stuff from the first CD. This new CD by Peter is another masterpiece.
Great compositions, superb bassplaying, beautiful sound. You don't have to be a bassplayer to love this CD.
But I am a bassplayer and of course have my favorite guys that inspire me and keep me trying to get better.
Marcus Miller, Alex Al, Paul van Wageningen,John Pena, all the jacksons,Jaco...there is a long list Peter is one of those guys and he's probably in the top 10 for me.
So thanks for the great music,Peter and I can't wait for the next one.Hopefully it won't be another 4 years.

Holy Funk!
I just downloaded this cd! Good lawd, this is some funky &^% @$#~! I don't mind at all that he has the Marcus Miller vibe down pat! This dude knows how to play bass the way I like it!! Man, he took this new cd to whole 'nutha level!! Please keep making records like this. Most bass player cd's are boring and repetitive but this one is refreshing to say the least. I'm a huge fan! Bass the way it's meant to be played!
