Album Notes
Peter Simpkins is a pianist, composer, music therapist and teacher. He is renowned for his unique approach to improvisation drawing from his training in both classical music and jazz: his sound coalesces elements of both. His music has been described as “musical meditations and contemplations.” Others experience his music as a journey into an emotional world of subtle poignancy. Peter travels on sound and leaps into his heart to create music that moves the listener to feel depths of emotion that are difficult to reach. His work as a music therapist has been acclaimed for its ability to reach both the most difficult clients and sophisticated intellectuals. He has served on the faculties of Temple University and Hahnemann Medical College’s Creative Arts in Therapy Program (currently Drexel University) and has taught internationally. Peter continues to teach privately and give concerts. In his solo debut CD “Echoes From the Moon” Peter takes his listeners to deeply emotional places of reflection, weaving improvisations, standards, original compositions and classical forms into singular compositions that touch the heart, inspire imagination and sooth the spirit all at the same time.

An experience in sound
Listening to Peter's music is like traveling through sound and time. His style is truly unique and full of feeling. Peter does not play the piano, he becomes the piano. He pours out his heart into the keyboard and loses himself in the music. I recently met Peter and I was so impressed with his patience and unflabbability. He is the epitome of relaxation and comfort. I have purchased this CD for myself and for my autistic grandson, who was the reason I met Peter. I plan to expose my grandson to this truly exceptional music in the hopes that it calms his flighty nature and invigorates his own composing ability. For myself, I will listen to this CD daily to create a stress free mind and pray that I can be half as relaxed and patient as the man who wrote it. Thank you Peter for your music, and for sharing time with Alex.
