ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The compositions in this album seek to combine influences from jazz, classical and world music, while simultaneously forming a new, original aural entity. Furthermore, improvisation is sought to be implemented in a composed framework, without missing out on the buoyancy of improvisation, neither from the thought-out nature of music composition.

The diverse musical background of the musicians in this ensemble enhances the nature of the concept. They are well versed improvisers, but also proficient interpreters of composed scores. Their distinct timbers are treated both as lead voices, but also as orchestrated parts of an ensemble. The result is music that is original while at the same time drawing from discernible musical genres and cultures.

The title "visual music circus" carries an implication on the visual aspect of multi-layered and orchestration, as well as a reminiscence of the frolicking colorfulness of the circus in its multi-timbral instrumentation. Finally, a desire for music free of frameworks and limitations is fulfilled, through composing just what the creative mind is inclined to, without striving to fit its development within a preordained music style or genre.
