ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Philip G. Freeman is a native of Gary, Indiana and is a musician of consummate detail. The songs he writes are Word driven and musically challenging. He is a musician's musician and the choir he has developed is exciting and extremely exceptional.

The Victorious Praise Singers, comprised of Washington DC area talent, are gifted and anointed to bring God's message. The repertoire synchronizes the heritage of traditional Gospel with the fullness and intensity of contemporary Gospel lyrics and expressions. This project which is co-produced with Philip by Music Director Tangie Rowe, an accomplished musician, is expressive, intrinsic and timeless.

Especially appealing to Midwestern audiences, they have toured the Chicago area several times. In addition to being commissioned by The Office of the Mayor of Washington, DC to sing for the City's Martin Luther King Holiday celebration, they have performed at National Public Radio and the Congressional Black Caucus' annual Prayer Breakfast and Community Day. Appearances on the main stage for Washington, DC's annual Black Family Reunion, an invitation from The Bell Group to open for the renowned Tramaine Hawkins at a Washington area fundraiser, a special showing for the U.S. Department of State African-American History Celebration, and a request to open for gospel sensation, Dorothy Norwood, are among their most noted engagements.

The group will celebrate its Eleventh year in ministry this year in Chicago on June 20, 2009. The choir is being featured in a Washington, DC area concert on June 28, 2009 at Tenth Street Baptist Church.

This CD will no doubt be one of your favorites for years to come. Write to them for more information at themgmthouse@aol.com

They squall fa points.
Maaaaannnn! If you like a good holla this is the group for it. The songs support good flatfooted choir singing that I have come to enjoy. The cd has a few party beats, a good shout number, a hymn wit a good drive at the end... Altogether a good mix of the churchy with the contemporary. They seem to mix the Chi-Town choir sound with the East Coast choir sound and it really works. It's a shame cause the sound clips don't do the cd justice. Most of the songs can be taught to workshop choirs and can be well recieved by a veriety of audiencies if done well (such as on the cd). Good Work Philip and VPS.

For a debut project, the music on this CD is very good! A "Chicago" choir influence is evident in the vocal and musical styles. A favorite should be the title cut and the wonderful new arrangement of the Gospel classic, "He Lives." I believe the project will do very well.
