Album Notes
You don’t come across bands like The Pheromones much anymore. This Australian funk collective has been playing in the live music scene in Sydney since 2003. With their irresistible mix of sexy, greasy funk, oz hip hop and sublime pop sensibilities, they remind punters of the great funk bands of the 70s.
Think The Chili peppers with a local twist, of The Meters at a swingers party!
In 2004 the band recorded a demo in three hours and sent it to a few radio stations. It continues to receive airplay on FBI, Skid Row etc. Since then The Pheromones have had a steady stream of messages on their mySpace site, asking ‘When is the new EP finished?’.
The time has arrived, you lucky mo-fo’s! The 5-track EP, ‘Hedonistic Bliss’, showcasing the song writing talent of guitarist Tori Kircher, was produced, engineered, mixed and mastered by Australia’s leading session guitarist and producer Peter Northcote. The EP features the vocal talents of seasoned and spunky session singer Chris Ninni, the exquisite Pheromonettes and the unique rubber tongued loquacity of rapper The Mighty A.S.H. Completing the line-up on the EP are Funkytonk on drums and Lampshade on bass, providing a rhythm section that’s as smooth as a wet eel through seaweed.
After all their hard work in the studio, The Pheromones are ready to liven up the local scene with their hard-hitting ultra funk sex grooves, colourful stage presence and salacious hooks that stick in your head for weeks.
