Album Notes
Phil & Gaye Johnson have lived the country music tradition incorporating into their sound almost all aspects of American acoustic music.

Phil and Gaye began their diverse music career in the mid 1970's. While operating a folk music store in Harrisonburg, Virginia they initiated a live two hour radio program broadcast weekly over WMRA-FM and, also, produced a 13 episode Bluegrass program for Virginia Public Television entitled "Phil’s Ole’ Time Pickin’ Junction". Later re-broadcast in several Southeastern states, it spawned a sequel "Phil & Gaye’s Song Swap Shop"
in 1977.

In the 1980's Phil & Gaye began touring full time performing at folk music venues, bluegrass and folk festivals and concert halls across America. They created and produced a weekly live radio program entitled "Cornbread & Sweetmilk Time" for commercial Country Music stations in North and South Carolina and released their first album "Cornbread & Sweetmilk".(CRC/Park Street 43632) the program continued until 1983. By that time they had made their first of four appearances on The Nashville Network’s "Fire on the Mountain" television series, as well as numerous appearances on public radio’s "A Prairie Home Companion". In the late 80's Phil and Gaye co-produced and hosted their first nationally syndicated radio series "The Liberty Flyer". Broadcast throughout the United States and around the world via The Armed Forces Radio Network, "The Liberty Flyer" played host to a veritable "who's who" of Bluegrass and acoustic folk music artists of the era.

In 1992 Phil and Gaye created Aster Productions to encompass their record label Aster Records, music publishing, Chigger Ridge Music, book publishing, Euphoria Falls Publishing and their multimedia production facility AsterArts. They released several titles including "Slide Guitar as a Second Language" a guitar instruction video highlighting Phil's innovative slide guitar technique.

The new millennium finds them continuing to tour and produce. Their production efforts include six seasons of the syndicated radio program "The KingPup Radio Show" America’s premier “roots music” program available on 55 radio stations worldwide and on the internet at:
