Album Notes
After more than 20 years as a Christian singer-songwriter, Phoenix Jordan has come out with his debut album, "Love Is Heaven, Love Is Hell". It's a collection of 14 love songs he refers to as "a musical autobiography." As the title suggests, the lyrics take the listener on an emotional journey, all across the spectrum of feelings that love can arouse.
Produced by Patrick Conway at legendary Blue Rock Studio in Wimberley, Texas, the album features 12 original songs and 2 covers. 10 of the tunes were recorded at Blue Rock, with 3 of the others produced and recorded at Promise Land Studio in Austin (Mike Hersh, associate producer) and 1 at Jumping Dog in Austin (Ron Flynt).
Musicians featured on the album are Warren Hood on fiddle, Sean Giddings and Ron Huckaby on piano, David Beck on bass, and Dees Stribling on drums. The project includes original songs written over a span of 30 years, recorded at 3 different studios. The full roster of musicians and producers makes a long list! But it also includes Jacob Lowery on bass, Mark "Peppy" Johnson and Anthony Browne on guitar, Bob Dehm on flute, and Jason Meekins on drums.
The 2 tunes covered are the Hoagy Carmichael classic "Stardust", and the moving "I'll See You On the Other Side," by Walt Wilkins, Davis Raines, and Liz Rose.
