Album Notes
Jim Photoglo's multi-faceted musical career spans four decades. After playing the club circuit in Los Angeles in the mid-'70s, he secured a record deal which led to the release of three solo albums, two hit singles, "We Were Meant to be Lovers" and "Fool in Love With You", a national tour with the Beach Boys, countless television appearances, and an Asian tour.

In the mid-80's, a brief break from his recording career led to playing and singing on tour with Andy Gibb, Vince Gill, Nicolette Larson, and Dan Fogelberg. It was during this time he moved to Nashville where his career took another turn: He decided to concentrate on songwriting. His songs were recorded by a variety of artists including: James Ingram, Dusty Springfield, Kenny Rogers, Gary Morris, Leroy Parnell, Patty Loveless, Highway 101, The Oak Ridge Boys, Pam Tillis, Tanya Tucker, Travis Tritt, Neil McCoy, John Anderson, Kathy Mattea and The Everly Brothers. Five of those recordings ended up in the Top Ten of Billboard Magazine's Country Music Charts, and two went to Number One: "Fishin in the Dark" by the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, and "Hometown Honeymoon" by Alabama.

After recording two more solo albums in the early 90's, his career took a bizarre turn. He and Russell Smith of The Amazing Rhythm Aces, Bernie Leadon of the Eagles, and Vince Melamed formed Run C&W, taking classic soul songs of the 60's and 70's, rearranging them and performing them bluegrass style. Their antics led them to MCA Nashville where they recorded two albums and gained a worldwide cult following.

Jim continues to write songs and perform solo, as part of the duo Freebo and Photoglo, and as a member of The Vinyl Kings. He has released a new solo CD, "Sparks In The Radio", available on CD Baby, and two CDs as a member of the Vinyl Kings, "A Little Trip" and "Time Machine", which are two of CD Baby's best sellers. Excellent song writing, super performance.
We heard Jim play at Folk Alliance and couldn't wait to get this CD. "Silence is King" was stuck in both our heads. It's a powerful song. We were glad to find equally strong and more up-beat songs, too. Jim delivers!

Excellent CD! I enjoy every single song.

As to be expected when Jim Photoglo provides us with his artistic ability. Why not buy two and give one as a gift to that special friend. It will always be remembered

It takes me to another place...away from here
This CD really touches my heart...the sound and words take me to a place in my past... A place of gators and rattlesnakes... honesty and sweet romance...to a place on the river on a hot summer day...tan, barefoot and smelling the sweet fragrance of cypress and river mist....mmmmm takes me home. It makes me feel fresh and alive...maybe a little wise...there's not allot of music that can take me there...Fly Straight Home does it for me...

great songs, wonderful guitar, amazing lyrics.

Great disc from a underrated musician
I could not have imagined loving a CD from Photoglo like a do! What a surprise. Smooth, flowing...quite a surprise from a underplayed musician. Use to seeing Photoglo backing up Fogelberg, little did I know how great he is on his own. You will NOT be disappointed!

Love it!
I heard Jim Photoglo on our local PBS radio station and wanted to hear more so I looked him up on the internet and bought the CD. I was not dissapointed. Where has he been hiding?

Billboard Magazine

A great, eclectic offering

"This collection from Nashville-based singer/songwriter Photoglo finds the highly regarded tunesmith in a romantic and reflective mode. Home, love, and domesticity are recurring themes, beginning with the longing of the title cut and holding true throughout. Photoglo crafts highly accessible songs in the Fogelberg/JT mold, and this time out he co-writes with some of the best, including Paul Williams, Gary Burr, Jon Vezner, Matraca Berg, and Bob DiPiero. The whole package is mighty easy on the ears, with the largely acoustic arrangements suitable for both country and AC/adult standards formats. While his songs are often recorded by other artists, Photoglo delivers them himself with passion and conviction, whether it's the reluctant rebellion of The Road To Jackson County, the hopeful optimism of A Job Well Done, or any of a half-dozen love songs that could help any would-be Romeo get lucky."

Music Row Magazine

What a disc.
In a word, "wow." I've known Photoglo as a songwriter for so long, I'd completely forgotten what a potent performer he is. Back in the early 1980s he charted memorably a couple of times. But this is something else entirely, an ocean current of dark-green mystery. I fell into it and floated. Never even came up for air. What a disc.

Highly recommended whatever your musical persuasion

"MUSIC ROW SONGWRITER Jim Photoglo has written hits for everyone from Trisha Yearwood to Kenny Rogers to John Anderson to Faith Hill. The one-time member of Run-C&W enjoyed a fairly successful recording career in the early '80s, scoring on the American pop charts and gaining a sizeable following in Japan.
That was followed by road work with Andy Gibb, Vince Gill and Dan Fogelberg. On this self-produced and marketed album he shows himself to be an above-average vocalist possessing a warm, emotional tone that suits his easy-on-the-ear love embraces.
The title tune, co-written with Wendy Waldman, features a rootsy arrangement built around Robbie Turner's dobro that enhances the simple lyric message. There's a slight jazzy feel to Spending Every Minute In Love, the distinctive Hammond B-3 organ work laid down by fellow tunesmith Vince Melamed. California songwriter Paul Williams
(responsible for many of the Carpenters' hits), teamed up with Photoglo and Jon Vezner for Maybe In A Dream, a pop-flavoured song that probably owes more to Bread than Alabama.
If country is your bag, listen out for The Road To Jackson County, a pure hillbilly yarn that is quite irresistable. The best comes, though, with Silence Is King, a co-write with Gary Burr, and one of the finest examples of the sheer artistry that abounds on Music Row. A songwriter's album that is highly recommended whatever your musical persuasion."
