Album Notes
I love the ukulele. I love the way it sounds. I love the way it looks. I love the way it sparkles when it plays a new song. Ukulele Awesomesauce is filled with whimsical songs played on ukulele, and a little harmonica, a little trumpet, a little upright bass and lots of love.

Ukulele Awesomesauce was Produced by Steven Courtney at Folketowne Studios. Graphic Design by Marty Shaughnessy for Deklanmedia, Photos by Lisa Landis-Blowers

All Instruments by Phredd & Steven Courtney

My kids and I review this album
I was SO glad I bought this album and didn't wait to give it until Christmas. I hardly can wait with music this good (though I am holding off on revealing the new Slugs & Bugs Christmas album to my family for a few more weeks). Our almost-seven-year-old Isabelle and 4.5 year old Ben gave me some great quotes too!

We REALLY love "My Sister Swallowed a Frog". "I really like it because it's REALLY funny" says Ben. "The frog JUMPS in when it tries to kiss her (like the princess)" says Isabelle and "I like the r-r-r-r-ribit!". If you know me, ask me about the time I at least maybe pushed my little sister in a frog pond (did NOT try to make her swallow one...)

Ben honestly said "I like it but I don't have any opinion" about "Ice Cream". "Cherries on top of ice-cream is my favorite!" says Isabelle. I am admittedly the top ice-cream lover/eater in our family and I love to sing about my passions.

"There is a rocket in this song!" says Isabelle about "Best Buddy Pal". We have a lot of best buddy pals in our family and I experienced Isabelle and her second cousin waking before I did after their sleep over the other night. Thankfully they whispered...for a while....

"The king is squid!" says Isabelle about "King Squid". Oceans and sea stories are also favorites in our family.

"To make your belly dance is silly!" is our quote from Isabelle about "Why Did God Make Peas?" I prefer my peas local and we have done some shelling in our family too. But peas SURE can bounce, especially around our one year old!

We love funny sounds about our house and Ben says"It's funny because there's not any elephants in my room!". "'What do you feed an elephant? Just one bite at a time!'" is Isabelle's favorite quite from TAEIMY;)

This song touches me as I have a favorite hip hop artist, Peace 586 who refers to his wife by this nickname. She has been living with MS for over ten years and his latest album went to support research and was titled "Honeybee". So often we take those love for granted and Phredd reminds us to keep it sweet as the years roll by. "I like 'If you wanna catch that pesky fly, try some honey'" says Ben. "I like when he says bzsh bzsh bzsh B bszh BZSH" says Isabelle.

Our girl who loves words like the line "He has the fire in his eyes" in the song "Thought I Knew it All". This song has similar themes to a recent favorite of mine "Every Man Should Know" by Harry Connick Jr. We all have so much to learn as we live life with our families and Phredd takes the humble approach as he shares that, even at his age;), he has lots to learn.

We've heard this song and seen it performed live even! "Why Did The Chicken Cross The Road Last Night" has been a fav for a while. "Well, I like (the chorus) because chickens don't cross road and they stay in their cage!" says Ben. Isabelle things "It's funny when he says BAWK BAWK BAWK Doodledoodledoo!".

Overall, this is a great, yet short album. I want more Phredd! But he's so close we can call him, email him, or run into him at the Junction Center. And if we're lucky he'll even wish us "Happy Birthday" first think in the morning if we tune in to WJTL! Love the sound effects the stripped down production that lets the works and Uke do the work. We are already singing along and hope you do too!
