Album Notes
Hi, thanks for visiting. My name is ‘Piatro’ and I hope you like this CD. Here’s a little bio information for those who like to know the background of this project.

I started playing piano at age 5 and switched to guitar at age 9. I’ve played various instruments through out my life and musical career which include: acoustic steel string guitar (country and bluegrass), electric guitar (pop, rock, funk, jazz), 5 string banjo (bluegrass), 4 string banjo (dixieland jazz), mandolin, fiddle (bluegrass), bass guitar, and slide guitars.

I studied Music Composition at Ohio State University and spent four years traveling full time throughout the eastern U.S. performing with a Las Vegas Show group headlined by a Magician. During this time I became interested in electronics and eventually I returned to school and obtained several degrees in Electrical Engineering. Thinking I was going to delve deeper into music electronica and playing locally in various other funk and classic rock bands (and losing some of my hearing ;) Out of the blue I decided to totally switch gears and explore music in a solo direction on the Spanish Guitar.

What I’ve come to like about this particular instrument and in particular the style of music, is that the Spanish guitar generates a much ‘purer’ soothing sinusoidal tone than other guitars. Additionally having thrown away the guitar pick and using all the fingers on the right hand, a new physical challenge has presented itself which I’ve embraced wholeheartedly. Furthermore the energy created in myself and the excitement in the audience brought on by a Flamenco rasgueado passage is something I never could achieve playing other guitar styles. But now I’m totally hooked, and my local following is too. With this style of guitar I can traverse the gamut of emotions and provide a musical experience to the audience that has an impact that traverses all age groups and still continues to surprise me.

After what seems like forever, and from the urging of fans, I finally took the time away from performance to record this CD. The title ‘Siempre’ means forever in Spanish and is meant to reflect the timelessness of the compositions included on the album. The music traverses several centuries. The arrangements refined by many hours of performance. The classical pieces all have ‘energy’ and the Tangos are emotional. Unfortunately I decided not to put any Flamenco on this CD in order to maintain the theme of the project, however the future efforts most definitely will.

If you’re a guitar player, this is a guitarist album (this is what 22,000 hours of playing and practice sound like). If you like the pure tones of the Spanish guitar, this is your album. If you want instrumental music to energize you while you work, this is your album. If you simply need a break from the pop culture and need to discover music that has more depth, this IS your album.

Play on, always… Siempre Caio Piatro Aug 2007
