Album Notes
Original Groove Music : It's original because it doesn't sound like the mass produced crap you hear on the radio every day, and it grooves because it has to.

"Syzygy" has been in the works for a little over 2 years. This album is definitely more understated than our previous releases. Rest assured, this is intentional. When we sat down and talked about our favorite albums of all time, we soon realized they have one thing in common - they are all generally pretty mellow. Picadilly Circus has always been known for our energetic live performance. This presented some interesting questions for the band. First of all, would we be able to capture the atmosphere and energy of a Circus show in the studio? Second, did we really want to? The answers...no, and no.

We demoed around 25 songs for "syzygy". The ones that ended up on the album all had a general cohesiveness to them, either through lyrical content, or the subtle manner in which they were performed. Believe me, a Circus show is a completely different beast. We feel it should be. An album is a timeless snapshot of a band at a particular period of its development. You would never mistake "Animals" for "The Division Bell". Likewise, you could never mistake "Dangerous Open Minded Behavior" (our first cd) for "syzygy". On "syzygy" you can hear so much growth in not only the playing, but in songwriting, producing, and general emotional input. We are really proud of this album. Thanks for taking the time to listen to it, and we sincerely hope you enjoy it for a long time.

Andrew Schunk, Stow Sentry newspaper

When the sun, moon and Earth align, a phenomenon that occurs twice a month, it’s called syzygy. Many believe the alignment brings good fortune, positive karma, general good luck in their lives.
If not good fortune, the alignment of Mason Shuman (bass guitar and vocals), Allen Ilg (drums) and Kevin Brawley (guitar and backing vocals) of Picadilly Circus should provide an excellent listen for those who pick up the band’s new release, “Syzygy.”
The veteran area band whose last album, “Dangerous Open Minded Behavior,” was recorded in 1998, is back with a fresh sound and more mature songwriting - think 311 meets Sublime.
Each band member has grown musically since 1998, with Brawley confident enough to push boundaries on guitar, yet remain within his purposefully loose scaffolding.
Shuman’s bass work on the album is solid, and while performing live, he tackles the diametrically opposed singing and playing with seeming ease.
Ilg remains, by reputation, one of the better drummers in the area, preferring to push the envelope and develop unique rather than straightforward grooves. Ilg’s playing on “Syzygy” is as precise as anyone else’s who has practiced their instrument for more than 20 years.
All in all, “Syzygy” represents growth for Picadilly Circus, both musically and in the band members’ lives. The glass is half-full and optimism dominates with major-chord melodies and harmonies throughout, and the album should make a worthwhile purchase at the onset of the more insouciant summer season.

Absolutely Moving
Syzygy is amoung the best overall albums I have in my collection. The album is highlighted by to amazing songs Prediction Come True and 20,000 Years. For guitar playing and vocals that you would think could not be topped, this album is made powerful by its percusion delights and song writting. Its poetry. Thank you Picadilly Circus.
