Album Notes
SO WHAT'S IT LIKE? It's that perennial question that is so hard to answer. WHAT IS your musical style? Like anyone who loves and lives music, potentially everything is an influence and an inspiration.
BUT. If it needs a summing up... Take some early Sheryl Crow, add 1 cup of Aimee Mann; 1/2 cup Peter Gabriel, a couple ounces Bruce Springsteen.. a pinch of Johnny Cash and Carole King. Finish with a dusting of KT Tunstall and you'll have something nearly and ever so slightly resembling PollyWood - 'And She Did...'

Ten years ago this would've been a country record. Five years ago, it might've been a rock record. Last year even, it could've been an record. Today, it's a little bit of all of those, and then some. This album sees the culmination but also the beginning of a musical journey that started almost ten years ago. Convinced that a music career was something for the 'dreamers' out there, Polly, like Eva Cassidy before her, made her career in the gardening world. But the overwhelmingly positive response received at every turn for her music was too much to ignore and hence this record was, eventually, made.
After a chance writing collaboration four years ago with SAM BROWN, a multi-million selling artist in her own right, wheels were put in motion, the result of which was 'And She Did...' Polly's first studio album.

Polly Wood has done her share of live work too. In addition to performing her own songs throughout the UK and Europe she has collaborated with other artists on their projects as a songwriter and a performer, including dueting with John Illsley of Dire Straits on his latest album. More info on this and Polly can be found on the Polly Wood Music website.

Like a summer breeze...
I first listened to Polly Wood's album recently, and really enjoyed it. Beautiful and gentle music, just like a summer breeze... What a powerful voice ; the arrangements are gorgeous, more personal than many other actual blues-country-folk albums ! Such a pleasure... :)

She Did It beautifully
Polly Wood is a very talented singer & songwriter. Half Kiwi and originally from Devon, she has been writing songs since the age of 12.

I know Polly long ago seeing her to play live in London and Italy. I was waiting for her debut album impatiently. And She Did It...and did it the right way, with big passion and love. A truly awesome album! Its difficult to write musical reviwes, so would say it shortly. It is all beautiful - music, lyrics, her angelic voice. No more need to describe but should be listened.

Others on the album are Sam Brown ( 80-est song 'Stop' ) as a musician and producer, Joe Brown, Pete Brown, Mike Nichols, Richard Newman, Rich Milner ( from James Morrison Band) - world class musicians, which contributed to the sound completely. Don't miss this album. It is worth every second to the end.
