ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Our first full length record is a tasteful mix of our original contemporary Jazz compositions, inspired by Miles Davis, Spyro Gyra, Weather Report, and Jeff Lorber. It's paired here with our first recorded effort, the 45 RPM single Simply Simon/Bonica.

Iridescence was recorded over many sessions in Huntington Beach, California. Polyhedra trombonist John Holzinger was part owner of the studio and procured the band an excellent discount rate. The release of Iridescence in 1987 marked the band's entry into the nationwide market place of jazz. The Polyhedra sound was soon heard on over 250 radio stations across the country, including the group's local favorite, KKGO in Los Angeles. The success of the album led to an invitation to perform at the 1989 Monterey Jazz Festival. Polyhedra friend and counselor Dr. Herb Wong played a key role with feedback on pre-release versions of Iridenscence and recommended the band to the Monterey Festival founder, Jimmy Lyons.

Four of the seven founding members of Polyhedra, D.J. Alverson, John Holzinger, Bill Huff, and Ron Schrock remain with the band and concertize and record music throughout Southern California.

Tony Schexnyder - Bass
Steve Altfillisch - Bass (only Sun Crystals, Patches, Miles Apart, Bonica, and Simply Simon)

Bill Huff - Saxophones
