ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Released in 1990, Technicolour is our second album of original contemporary Jazz compositions, inspired by Miles Davis, Spyro Gyra, Weather Report, and Jeff Lorber. The album also features the hit Walkin' by Richard Carpenter, and was recorded over many sessions in Huntington Beach, California.

Technicolour was well reviewed:

"Polyhedra is a stylistic blend and consolidation of contemporary textures and ear-pulling sounds. Collectively, its music allows a colorful mix of energies that kick and caress, swing and soothe ... a band that speaks to a broad audience." - Dr. Herb Wong, KJAZ Radio

"The L.A.-based group Polyhedra ranged in style from hard bop to a big band sound, to R&B and even some Kenny G-type ballads during their impressive set." - Scott Yanow, Jazz Times review of the 1989 Monetery Jazz Festival

"... a septet that is hip enough to swing, get-down enough to rock, and smooth enough for a new age soothe ..." - Chris Columbi, Cleveland Plain Dealer and Downbeat critic

"... Polyhedra's performance is never studied or structured ... I was immediately caught up in the buoyancy and high spirits emanating from the band stand." - Frankie Nemko, Jazz Times columnist

Four of the seven founding members of Polyhedra, D.J. Alverson, John Holzinger, Bill Huff, and Ron Schrock remain with the band and concertize and record music throughout Southern California.
