ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is an album of all original songs for marimba ensemble, rooted in the music of southern Africa with American and classical music influences. It is the culmination of a 25 year journey learning, teaching and playing the music of Zimbabwe on marimbas. Played on a hand-made set of marimbas keyed to Eb, about half the songs are instrumental by Peter or Raven Swing, with contributions by other band members Harlin Pierce and Dylan Moon. The vocal pieces are contemplative, giving traces of a life given to the search for truth. Multi-layered vocal harmonies pays tribute to the rich vocal heritage of African music and western vocal groups alike.
