Album Notes
Ayahuasca :: Original Motion Picture Soundtrack

This album by Poranguí is the original soundtrack to the documentary film by director Mitch Schultz (D.M.T. The Spirit Molecule) that tells the story of a special group of Americans seeking healing that venture into the Amazon to work with an ancient & sacred sacrament of plant medicine known as Ayahuasca (Quechua for "Vine of the Soul"). The music was scored, performed and produced by multi-instrumentalist & traditional healer, Poranguí.

Though there are separate tracks on this album, it was created apart from the film as an entire experience that supports the listener in connecting to the earth & self in a deeper way. We recommend you create a harmonious space and play all the songs in sequence. The jungle sounds were recorded by Poranguí in the Amazon rainforest. Each song has sounds from a distinct time of the day or night to transmit the energetic imprint of that space & time. The songs were deeply inspired by this forest orchestra and the indigenous tribes from the region.

From the liner notes:

A portion of proceeds from this album will be donated to community projects supporting Amazon tribes near the Rio Momón who inspired this music, including the Yahua, Bora, Quichua Alamas & Huitoto Muruy.

Profound gratitude to all my família, friends, & allies who made this record possible. Gracias to Don Rober, Don Howard, and their beautiful families at SpiritQuest who carry these traditions with such integrity & love.

Special thanks to my dear friend Aubrey Marcus for his vision & support that made this film & soundtrack a reality. Gratidão to my beloved partner Ashley, whose unflinching love & dedication nourished every nuance of the project. Obrigado to my musical brother Eric Zang for helping me to deliver this musical medicine in its best form.

My humble love & respect to all the people of the Amazon who are stewards of the deep wisdom & magic of this earth, to the plant people who patiently teach us how to be better relatives, and to the ancestors who continue to play through my hollow bones.
Axé, Aho, Amen ~
