The Four Chaplains
Written by Chris Lockheardt
Directed by Michael Haddad

On February 2nd 1943 the USAT Dorchester was en route to Greenland carrying 902 people, including the crew of the ship. It was struck by a German torpedo and began to sink.

Among the troops were four US Army Chaplains. They helped calm the panic, assisted the wounded and guided survivors to the life rafts. They handed out life jackets and when those ran out the four gave up their own.

Standing on the deck, the survivors said they could hear the four men, a Catholic Priest, two Protestant Priests and a Jewish Rabbi, standing and praying together. Trying to comfort those they could until the end.

This is a tale of hope under dire circumstances. Of courage and cooperation among different faiths. It is a story of sacrifice, and the Post-Meridian Radio Players are proud to present their story.
