ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes

They acquired their name from the 1961 Elvis Presley UK 1,(Marie's The Name) His Latest Flame. Their sound has flavours of 80's post Punk and Indie with a self assured vintage 60's feel

Alan Benatar- electric/double bass/b.vocals.
Taranchala- nylon/electric guitars.
Steve Suede- drums.
Pete Matwetwe - keys/cahon/accordian.

Guests include:
Derek Coetzee - guitar

Happyfourtwenty
Happyfourtwenty's musical style emcompasses melodic alternative-pop-rock with tinges of reggae. The music has been described as R.E.M-ish with the songwriting attention of the Beatles.

Kent O’Shea - vocals/guitar/keyboards
Pete Woodbridge - vocals/keyboards/percussion & guitar, Alan Benatar - bass
Andrew Hoare - guitar
Louise Leggatt - vocals
Patrick Dilley/Sascha Muller - drums.

Martini Henri
From the bastard offspring of Happyfourtwenty and the Dirty Rinos, Martini Henri emerge with a sound reminiscent of classic 70's acid rock but with a current edge. The members are:

Dan Edmiston - throat/Guitar
Andrew Hoare - guitar/taranchala handling
Alan Benatar - bass Jumping/b.vox
Steve Suede - drums/b.vocals.

Rubber Soul
Rubber Soul formed in 1994. They enjoyed strong support in Cape Town from 1994 to 1996 and had two singles which enjoyed national radio coverage.
The members are:

Louise Leggatt: Lead Vocals
Patrick O'Shea: Vocal/guitar
Alan Benatar: Bass
Anton Ressel: Lead Guitar
Jason Louth/Sascha Muller: Drums

Al Paton
Al Paton grew up displaced from his European roots in the deserts of Namibia in Southern Africa. From a young age he banged away at the old family piano, until it finally gave up, forcing him to take up the guitar, a choice that was probably a good idea. Throughout high school, college and his twenties, he played in bands and wrote songs, winning a few 'battle of the bands' titles and a couple of regional and even international music awards. Now, at 31, Paton lives in Cape Town, where he owns a recording studio and is currently working on a full length album. His songs and story type lyrics are inspired by Africa, but his Anglo Saxon heritage comes through clearly in the style of rock.

The Privates
The Privates were formed in Cape Town in 1990. They enjoyed a modest career that spanned just under a year. During this time they played many gigs with some of the biggest Cape Town names like Little sister, Big Sky and the Blues Broers. Just as The Privates were developing a cult following lead singer and keyboard player Fling buckled under the pressure and fled overseas to pursue his love interest (who incidently dumped him)

As a result of the trauma Fling has developed a tremendous nose whistle.

Andrew (Fling) King - vox/keys
James (Jimmy Dean) McDonald - guitar/b.vox
Alan Benatar - bass
Brian (Barranette) Silberbauer - marimba/trombone
Kevin (dog) Dixon - drums
