Album Notes
The entire philosophy behind this album is based on the "chakras", the ancient, esoteric knowledge of energy wheels located along the spine. For this release, Stefanosis breaks from his traditional productions of acoustic, world music type recordings and delves into EDM and ambient, electronic music. A couple decades ago, he became a fan of ambient, dub and after-hours music. Stefanosis revisits this love for the genre as a producer. Another notable difference in this release is the lack of lyrics, since Stefanosis wanted a musical neutrality with songs that could be used for yoga classes. There are exceptions, such as the heavy, electro-dub rock track for "Manipura", the third chakra, where Stefanosis repeats in a monotone voice "Don't give up, use your Manipura chakra ! The Manipura chakra help you racka racka racka !" Also, the title track - Chakragnostics - where Stefanosis gives an echoey explanation of all the chakras and their elements over a very EDM beat. All of the songs were made using a microKorg vintage, analog synth. Stefanosis has never been a fan of music programming so the synth was actually played for every track, and many traditional, acoustic instruments were included such as percussion, native American flutes, singing bowls and stringed instruments. The result is an album that's very trancey, ethereal and perfect for a yoga or meditation class, with an intention to stimulate and vibrate all the chakras.
