Years End

An original, percussion based ensemble drawing from contemporary jazz and classical influences.
The ensemble performs the compositions of vibraphone player Daryl Pratt and guitarist Mike Price.

Daryl has an extensive performance background in both jazz and classical genres. He was a member of the Australian Art Orchestra (1994-2001), AtmaSphere (1991-2003), and the Chad Wackerman Group (1997-2006). He founded the jazz quartet Sonic Fiction in 1993 with recordings on Tall Poppies and NAXOS. He has performed with the San Diego Symphony, SSO, Australia Opera and Ballet Orchestra, Synergy, the Australia Ensemble and the ACO. He is currently the Head of Percussion at the Sydney Conservatorium.

After graduating from Berklee College of Music in the mid 1980’s Mike has had an extensive performance and academic career. In Australia he’s played with many top musicians including Miroslav Bukovsky, Jonathan Zwartz, Vince Jones and Bernie McGann, and in the USA with Nat Reeves, Randy Johnston, Dave Santoro and Jeff Fuller.
Mike was also Head of Jazz studies at the Australian National University from 1997 to 2012.

Since winning the 2001 National Jazz Award Brendan has gone on to play on over fifty albums by major Australian jazz artists. He has appeared at all of the major Australian jazz festivals and has toured Europe several times performing at the Berlin jazz festival, Locarno film festival and the Sidmouth folk festival.
Brendan was awarded an Australian Arts Council grant in 2005 and has been nominated twice for the Freedman Fellowship.

Jess Ciampa (percussion).
Jess is an acclaimed multi-instrumentalist at home in many styles ranging from orchestral to jazz, Latin and commercial. He has performed with the SSO, Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, ACO, Synergy Percussion, the Seymour Group and the Sydney Dance Company. He is also a member of the triple ARIA award winning Monsieur Camembert.
