Album Notes
Band Website: http://www.thepressproject.com

Blending hip-hop, soul, jazz and funk with an eclectic and poignant tongue twisting lyrical style, the seven members of The Press Project circulate massive amounts of physical and musical energy in a supercharged live performance spectacle. The challenge for producer Andrew Gallagher of Waterway Studios was to take that live spectacle and cram it into miniscule laser marks on a shiny metal disc.

Ten months, hundreds of hours, countless creative differences and a near catastrophic break-up later, Get Right is an album set to shift the musical paradigm and get people up out of their seats and back onto the dance floor. Get Right is a collective of every major musical form spun into what many have come to simply dub “Press Music” for lack of a definitive genre or style. And if you aren’t tapping your foot to Press Music, you might want to check your pulse.

Over the past two and a half years The Press Project has played the gamut of regional stages in New England and shared bills with the likes of The Roots, Robert Randolph, George Clinton and toured opening for and backing hip-hop legend Slick Rick. More good things are on the horizon...

The seven-member act originated in early 2005 amidst the burgeoning artistic landscape of the NH Seacoast. In the beginning of the beginning, members were collected to back the ever-eloquent underground hip-hop prodigy Breeze Evahflowin from NYC at a local show in Newmarket, NH. From those auspicious roots grew a movement and that movement adopted a magnetic quality pulling together the musical and lyrical best in the surrounding area. The Press Project was formed.

The band formerly had big plans for a live album in the fall of 2006, but the project was shelved when the band’s engineer and great friend passed away. At that time it was decided a studio album would be more advantageous to the group’s progression.

Here's what some folks have to say about the band:

Jazz/Funk/Hip hop at its finest
This album the absolute SHIZZZ!!! I saw these guys open up for none other than, The GODFATHER of FUNK, George Clinton and P-funk last summer! Lemme tell you, they did a fan-friggin-tastic job... The crowd was rockin from start to finish of their set and wanted more! To bad it was time for G.C. and P-funk. Def grab this album if you love jazz, funk, or hip hop. Its sure to tickle your fancy!

Saw them in Boston as they opened for Soulive. The best conscious rap/hip hop I've heard in years. Their music makes its own path and clears it for you to follow. Press Project has a message and they deliver it in the best possible way.

Excellent cd. i've seen them numerous times now and they just keep getting better every time. cd is great and they've come a long way from they're earlier music. everytime i've seen them, i bring people who have never heard them and they end up loving they're music.

old school
this album is a mix of the old school soul and hiphop. most of the songs are unforgettable. my fave song is "good day." you'll definitely have a chilled out day if you listen to it.
