ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This is the music from a play called TEN NOVEMBER, written by playwright Steven Dietz and composer Eric Peltoniemi, about a modern-day shipwreck: the Edmund Fitzgerald disappeared on Lake Superior the tenth of November, 1975. No trace of her 29 crewmen was ever found. There have been dozens of productions of TEN NOVEMBER across the US and Canada since its premier in 1987, and for good reason. Compelling and imaginative, the play explores the mystert and controversy surrounding the Fitzgerald tragedy and reminds us how tenuous and precious are our ties to those we love in the face of the awesome power of nature. At the heart of it is the Great Lake Superior: a serene beauty, a fearsome force, a giver and taker of life.

These songs have haunted me since my days as a member of the original St. Paul cast. It has always been my wish to sing them again and, with the help of my colleagues whose talents you hear within, offer them to you.

Prudence Johnson, Claudia Schmidt and Ruth MacKeenzie, Vocals
Peter Ostroushko, violin & mandolin, Dan Chouinard, accordian and piano, Jeffrey Willkomm, bass guitar, and Eric Peltoniemi, acoustic guitar.

Amazing. One of the CDs I most like to sing along with.
Our high school did Ten November when I was a sophomore, and I auditioned for one of the singing roles but didn't get it. That didn't stop me from dubbing a tape of the original performance and memorizing it from start to finish. I've since lost the tape and have been searching for a CD of the songs ever since (since 1996) and finally I found this. It was worth the wait.

Ten November
I've seen a couple productions of Ten November and highly recommend the experience. The music on this CD is beautiful and can easily provoke tears. Many will enjoy this music on its own, but to add to your experience, try to see a live production.

Hauntingly beautiful!
"Gales of November" is the musical stage production about the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald. How fortunate I am to have seen the production itself and to bathe in the beauty and sensitivity of the music. What a thrill now to have the CD! There's a good chance I'll wear it out before too long.

It arrived very quickly. What a good experience all the way around! Thank you!
