About the album (ENGLISH):
Ambiethernum (a sampler of the best ambient-space music of Psicodreamics) is the first in a collection of compilations of ambient - new age music project Psicodreamics created by the Spanish musician Salva Moreno. This set showcases the best of the best this musician offers. Psicodreamics has been creating his own sonorous universe since 1990 and continues to explore ever new material and themes. Following years of musical and creative growth, Salva looks back to appreciate the long traveled way and show new listeners who discover for the first time the ambient and space side of his sonorous artform. It is very important to make clear that this collection of tracks has been rigorously selected, carefully re-mastered and specially compiled. You will be able to embark on a magic carpet ride to an unreal world, visiting evocative and mysterious spaces. Live a musical adventure that will change your outlook. Welcome to another world, beyond time and space. Welcome to Ambiethernum.

A recommended release
I received this CD in the mail a couple of weeks ago and have been listening to it on and off since then. I think this is the first CD from Psicodreamics aka Salva Moreno that has been reviewed here on Ambient Visions so for some readers this will be an introduction of sorts. And what makes this introduction all the better still is that this is a compilation CD that showcases Salva's efforts in the ambient-space music genres so the focus is strictly on the music that Salva has created that falls under this heading. The content on this collection shows that Salva went through his music carefully finding the music that would make this a fairly homogenzied grouping of compositions that will not disappoint the listeners who decide to pick up a copy of this CD.

There is a cinematic feel to much of Psicodreamics music that works well with what he is presenting in terms of compositions. There are some light and airy pieces that function as backgrounds allowing the listener to drift along with the music and there are some darker pieces as well that pull you out of your comfort zone and transport you into more of a dramatic world that while not keeping you on the edge of your seat will at least bring your mind back from drifting and focus it on the edgier aspects of his music.

Salva is not afraid to mix beats and rhythms into his music and yet even when he does so for example on track 4 which is called Labyrinth of Seduction he is still able to maintain the spacier aspects of the composition in the background with the synths which still manages to give the song an overall feeling of peacefulness and wide open spaces. One of my favorite ambient feeling pieces is track 2 called A Heaven in Your Eyes which throughout the song maintains a very ethereal motif with the sound of wind chimes tinkling from beginning to end while the synths ebb and flow over the listener. This one song illustrates the potential Psicodreamics has for producing some first class ambient CD's and that says to me that Salva still has a lot to say with his music via these types of creative efforts.

As you would expect from any collection made up of music from various points in an artist's overall career the road is not completely smooth but by making the choices that he did in selecting the songs on this CD Salva has done well in keeping the jarring shifts to a minimum allowing the listener to move from song to song and feel like they were meant to be together. The notes on Salva's website states that the songs were remastered during the process of creating this collection and it shows in that you don't feel like the pieces were recorded at various times using different equipment which is sometimes the case for material that was created further back in an artist's career.

Over all I would say that this CD makes a fine introduction to the work of Salva Moreno aka Psicodreamics and will encourage you to check out the CD's where these songs came from. No collection of music is perfect and this one is no exception with track 7 called On the Shores of Hell being the weak link of this collection. I don't particularly care for the vocals on this track and the music is just not my cup of tea. That being said I think that the CD has a lot to offer the listener who has just run across Psicodreamic's music and wants to see what he is all about. His music is all about storytelling and most of the CD's that the music came from had an overarching theme that tied the songs together so listening to the songs in their original context might shed more light on the song itself. Salva is a very capable composer and his enigmatic style of music deftly blends both the dramatic/cinematic styles of music with the more atmospheric elements that show up throughout this CD. A recommended release.

Psicodreamics is Spanish musician Salva Moreno’s, who provides on this release a wealth of fine compositions, from a catalogue of music spanning from the 90’s with nine albums to date. His music combines the elements of New Age with ambient overtones and has an inner beauty in it’s structure. This can be found on the tracks such as “A Heaven in Your Eyes” were who hear the call of the angels and the shimmering lights of the cosmos, at the foot of a Galactic doorway, my favourite piece on the album, showing rare emotion. “Labyrinth of Seduction” has those same heavenly sounds but with a rhythmic foundation of celestial chords, very uplifting. Again “Stakes and Garlics” & “The Crypt of Depair” have otherworldly echoes from beyond the sphere of life and grabs you with their shear beauty. Another spacey track “Luminious” takes us into the mysterious sounds of the universe, sometimes dark and unnerving, yet totally absorbing. “On the shore of Hell” has firstly odd spoken words, sounded death to this track but gladly they only last a few seconds. This is an interesting piece with quirky voices, thunderous basses? and disturbing breathing sounds. “The Beyond” is in a similar vein but has a much darker feel, with undertones of desolate landscapes in a world driven by the unknown. Going with the same theme as the former “Malicious Children Delight” is much more experimental with all manner of percussive & industrial sounds, overlaid with a choral lead. “Floating in the River of Souls” is a atmospheric piece woven with symphonic choral sounds, probably the most melodic piece on the album with added piano chords and “Twilight Dream (Reverse)” the shortest track provides again soaring symphonic chords, retaining an enlighten quality. So there you have it, a sample of the music from Psicodreamics, with its shifting textures and amazingly, beautiful, fluid, ambient sounds, that will embrace you with its spiritual well being, you will not be disappointed.

Relative Time and Space
Salva Moreno is the composing musician behind the notably mysterious and out of this world music of Psicodreamics. His New Age music projects are best described as Ambient, Chill Out, Neo Classic and Gothic to name a few. My review of his most recent Fantasynth Album hopefully gave you an introduction of what this artist from the beautiful city of Valencia Spain is capable of creating. The Ambiethernum Album, on his own Witches on the Radiowaves label, is a thought provoking score strategically designed to place the listener in a picturesque state of mind. Psicodreamics has achieved a dramatic ambient theme in the 12 tracks intended to arouse the imagination, giving the listener a chance to sit back, close their eyes, then drift along with the music to any imaginary realm they choose to fathom. The Ambiethernum Album does give you this break through opportunity in imagination by the surreal spatial sound effects, exploring with a point of calm and composure in your virtual musical travel through the galaxy without ever losing your equilibrium. The ambient aspects of earlier projects are also present by abundant chill out that permit an emotion to be felt. Guided mostly by the deep, dark extended note overtones, keyboard compositions, and synthesized presence of woodwind, string, and abundance of unique percussion effects which are strongly emphasized. The timely appearance of a Symphonic and Orchestra presence adds to the depth and dimension that is light and airy at one moment, only to reappear as a dark and heavier tones in the next phase, increasing the overall intensity. Natural Animal Effects make their voices known from time to time, adding to character involvement during this make believe encounter. Another thought in utilizing this deep and mysterious music could be as a documentary or soundtrack background score for science fiction, mystery, or even horror themed movies, since the atmospheric content would enhance practically every movie moment in those genres.
Ambiethernum Track 10 in particular makes a theatrical eerie presence known quite dramatically, and could easily be pictured as an excellent horror movie score, if used in that context.
